    Hello/Hi

If a senior is addressing a younger person or a child named Edwin, does he say #1 or #2?

#1 Hi, Edwin, how are you today?
#2 Hello, Edwin, how are you today?
I am a fleeting visitor on this fragile Earth.

    Re: Hello/Hi

The relative age of the addressee is not especially relevant.

    Re: Hello/Hi

In some languages, the age of the speaker relative to that of the addressee is important and would have an impact on the words used. In English, that isn't generally the case. You might be more inclined to say "Hello" than "Hi" to your bank manager, a senior employee at your company, or someone who's interviewing you for a job (just examples) but otherwise, you can use whichever you like.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Ron: Hi, Edwin! How are you doing?
Edwin: Hi, Mr. Ron! I'd like you to meet my brother.
    Ron: What's his name?
    Edwin: Edwin.
Ron: Well, two Eds are better than one.
