Bob sat in the passenger seat

    Have I made any mistakes?

Bob sat in the passenger seat, scrutinising his wife's face while she was driving. He was looking for any signs of her infidelity since he got an anonymous text message a few days before saying, "Your wife is unfaithful. Be careful." He tried to dismiss the message as a joke, but it had lodged in his mind like a bone in his throat, and he couldn't get rid of it.

Note that "since" isn't wrong, but it may be interpreted in its temporal sense (which is not what you intended). Also, "be careful" is not natural. It sounds like a threat.

Would "Keep an eye on her" be OK, instead of "be careful"?

That sounds like friendly advice. Is that what you intend?

Yes. That is what I intended to say from the beginning but was unable to remember the right phrase and instead used "be careful", which was wrong.

Write He was looking for any signs of her infidelity. He's heard an allegation, but it's not a fact.
