Ever since Tom had gone on holiday

    Have I made any mistakes?

Ever since Tom had gone on holiday, not a day had passed by without rain. The sky was overcast, the landscape covered in mist, and people morose and irritated. It seemed to him that his own depression had infected everything around him.

I think infected works here- it's suitably glum.

I wouldn't make as many changes as teechar.
