it just indicates movement to Spain, which can't result in learning Spanish.
The speaker's trip to Spain might well have given them a desire to learn Spanish.
I think "I traveled in Spain" would be best.
It is possible, but it has a different meaning. The 'best' sentence is the one that fits what actually happened.

It seems somewhat exaggerated to say this after hearing only one word of the language. Cathy must be easily impressed.

Did he change his name to Santiago during or after his trip to Spain?

You still haven't answered this question, keannu.

    Re: I traveled to Spain

G: Hello, Santiago! What brings you here?
B: Bienvenido, Cathy. I came to see the Spanish festival.
G: Me, too. But what did you just say?
B : Bienvenido! It means "welcome" in Spanish.
G : Wow! You speak Spanish very well.
B : I have studied Spanish since I traveled to Spain
G: How nice! Santiago, can you see the big letters on the stage? What does that mean?
B : Oh, gracias. That means "thank you.".

I think when people say "I have done something since I traveled to Spain.", it means currently they are outside of Spain, not inside Spain.
If they were in Spain, they would say "since I came to Spain."

If you say "I visited a lot of places when I traveled to Korea", wouldn't it mean that you've already left Korea and have come back to your home country?

Probably. If I have come back to my home country.

    Re: I traveled to Spain

If "I traveled to Spain" and "I traveled in Spain" is the same, I wouldn't ask more.

    Re: I traveled to Spain

    They are not the same.

I traveled to Spain - I went to Spain
I traveled in Spain - I visited two or more places while in Spain

    (are the same)
