    John and I went shopping. John and I - the subject.
    They invited John and me. John and me - the object.
    In colloquial speech, however, you may often hear
    John and me went shopping.

    In colloquial speech you'll also hear the hypercorrect form She gave it to John and I. (Hypercorrect = wrong through trying too hard to be right.)
