While we wait for you to provide the source and author, please note my changes/additions to your punctuation above.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Re: The meaning of 'series' in medicine (text included)

Sure, the source is: "the use and misuse of sleeping pills (A clinical guide)."
But I'd be grateful to know why it's necessary knowing the source to suggest the meaning of a sentence...
    Thanks.

"The Use and Misuse of Sleeping Pills (A Clinical Guide)".
That's only part of the source. If you don't know the name of the author, who is the publisher?

I'd be grateful to know why it's necessary to know the source ...

OK, this is the author's name: Wallac, B. Mendelson.

Re: The meaning of 'series' in medicine (text included)

I also think we need a bit more context to work this one out. I'm unsure what 'series' is referring to without more context.

Perhaps post the complete sentence, as well as the preceding and following sentences.

Re: The meaning of 'series' in medicine (text included)

"َAlthough, the overall mortality among acute overdose patients who reach the hospital is often less than 1%, Grade 4 coma is associated with mortalities of 5-34% in various series".

    I hope this helps...

Re: The meaning of 'series' in medicine (text included)

I understand series to mean "sets of data".
    I am not a teacher.
