    let go of it!

    What does "let go of it" mean?

    David: It's my day for the living room
    Matt: No, it isn't. You're in the bathroom today.
    David: I cleaned the bathroom yesterday.
    Matt: No, you didn't. You were watching television when I came home.
    David: I did it after you went to bed.
    Let go of it.
    No, you let go of it!

    New Headway movie, season 4, episode 1.

    David and Matt are trying to wrest something from the grasp of the other.

    The item is probably something related to the cleaning task, such a vacuum cleaner. Can you not see the video?

    That is not explained in the OP. And there is no link to a video.

    No, but Jutfrank's post would work in that context.

    Either Matt couldn't tell the bathroom had been cleaned or David is a liar. Either way it looks like one of them needs to find a different apartment.
