He looks much healthier and is feeling much better now.

"He used to eat unhealthy food but he has changed his diet now. He looks much healthier and is feeling much better now." I have found the previous sentence in an exercise as correct. I know that the conjunction "and" joins similar types of words (e.g. nouns, verbs etc.). But can we use simple present in the first verb and present continuous in the second one?

There's nothing that says you can't, so it's not incorrect, but it is perhaps a bit odd to use two different tenses. I'd prefer a parallel structure, where both tenses are the same.

He looks much healthier and feels much better.
He's looking much healthier and is feeling much better.

Two things. One, using that word (now) at the end of every sentence rather quickly becomes irritating. Two, the two clauses don't clash (if that's what you mean).

Do you mean you saw that sentence in an exercise, and it was deemed correct?

Yes, the second sentence for which I'm asking is taken from an exercise and the words in bold were provided as the correct answers.

    Try:

He's looking better and feeling better.

He must have been reading Healthy Eating by Herb Omlet and Letty Sleeves.
