Lilies here use your family names

    Hi.

I am in a chatroom with 450 people (500 at most) and there are so many people with the name Lily. In order to distinguish which Lily is which Lily. I said to them "I suggest Lilies here use your family names".

I wonder if my sentence is natural.

Whilst it's true that the word "lily" (the flower) becomes "lilies" in the plural, I don't think you can do it to someone's name. If I had to write your sentence I'd write "Lilys". You can get around this by saying "If your name is Lily, I suggest you use your family name".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

So "Lily" is what they use as their screen name?

    How about:
Can members with the name "Lily" state their surnames/family names, please, to avoid confusion?

There is always the option of using suffixes to "Lily", which are probably easier to remember than the actual names

Usually you don't get to use the same name as somebody else. For example, if there had been a Tarheel here already I would have had to be Tarheel2. Are the rules different for chat rooms?
