    as it is becoming known

    Hello everybody!

How to feed them is little and often.
High volumes of food do not help the starving cat’s digestion. It will put extra stress on a system at a time when it is least able to handle it. The goal should be a low carb diet, or Catkins, as it is becoming known.

Does "as it is becoming known" mean "when/while it is becoming known" or "because it is becoming known"?

I would opt for the first meaning.

    What is your opinion?

Re: as it is becoming known

    Neither.

It means that the name 'Catkins' is what the diet is starting to commonly be called.
