    Hello,

    I'm confused wih this sentence. Which one is correct is or are?

    A lot of clothing in those stores is/are on sale this week.

    The correct answer is "is", since "clothing" is uncountable.

    A better thread title would have been 'A lot of clothing in those stores is/are on sale this week'.

    A lot of can be used with singular or plural verb forms- look at whether the noun is uncountable or plural:

    A lot of people are coming.
    A lot of food is wasted.
