    Hi,

    Is the tense here used correctly?

    They had already been halfway through their training when I joined them.

    Or 'were' sounds more appropriate. Please clarify.

    In my opinion, both options are correct and acceptable.

    They're both possible depending on context.
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
