I think we need to keep the balance of work and life. We need to be smarter to assign appropriate times to work and rest in a day.

Which is more appropriate in each underlined?

Keep things in balance.

Is appropriate correct here? What about proper?
appropriate and proper are always confusing to use.

You need to rework the last part. For starters, work and life are not separate things. Instead, work is a part of life. (I'm not sure what to do with the last sentence.)

Balance between work and life?

Note that just just because a term is accepted by some doesn't mean it has to be accepted by all.

Work, rest, play -- balance!

Time at work, time for family, time with self -- balance!

I guess you're right.

OK, I made this change. In the first line, whether to use "the" or "a" is a headache for me.

Before: I think we need to keep the balance of work and life. We need to be smarter to assign appropriate times to work and rest in a day.

After: I think we need to
keep the balance of work and life/keep a work-life balance.. We need to be smarter enough to assign/allocate proper/ideal time to work and rest respectively/ in a day.

Apparently, you didn't like my suggestions. Also, you didn't notice my emoticon. Also, I wish you would stop underlining so much stuff.

We balance with things.

Lots of things are in dictionaries. For example, overcrowded is in the dictionary. What's its definition? Crowded.

Make time for work, for rest, and for play.
Make time for each in every day.

"A little more in balance"
