Hello.
I ask to clarify the choice of Present Perfect as the correct answer in the following sentence: "The British Museum has also announced a forthcoming exhibition of artefacts from the Stonehenge period which they ______ (gather) over the last five years from all over Nothtern Europe. So the correct asnwer is have gathered. I have written have been gathering as I thought that Continuos form is preferable with emphasising duration. Does it mean that over (the last five years) cannot be used with Continuos form? Is this sentence relavant to result rather than process?
Thank you.

It's not continuous. They're done. They have gathered and now they're putting on the exhibition.
