Hi Yankee,

According to the information below, please tell me what's wrong.
"There is a subtle difference between 'to find' and 'to find out'. When reporting on the experience of a researcher and what the experience revealed, use 'find' instead of the phrasal verb."

1. This sentence is revealed the experience from Peter, what's wrong?

2. "find out" that is the phrasal verb and suitable for find out something.

Also note that we don't refer to people with their first name after "Miss/Ms/Mrs/Mr". If you use those, follow them with the person's surname.

1. Yes. Peter finds it.

2. Mary finds out her wallet on the table below.(she finds out something, not do the research to find it. What's wrong)

"find out" means to discover or learn a fact. It often implies that knowledge of the fact has been hidden from the subject or that the subject had not been informed about it.

It does not mean to locate an object.

"I found out that John is cheating on Mary." (John is keeping it a secret.)

"It won't be long before Jeff finds out the truth about his family history." (The family history has been hidden.)

"How did you find out about this party?" (The party was known to a select group of people.)

"I only found out about it yesterday." (I had been unaware of something that others somehow seemed to know, but did not tell me about.)

It's better to tell us the source and much better with the screenshot. ;-)

Understood.

1. Using "find out" to discover or learn a fact. It means sentence no.1 Peter does the research and find out the true.

2. Using "find" only because the wallet located at the table below. It means the sentence no.2 told the reader the location.

So, am I wrong?
