Red face Is it Guildee or Guildie?

When referring to people in your guild, which is the correct terminology? I cannot find an answer on google, surprisingly.

    Welcome to the forum.

What do you mean by "people in your guild"?. I'm not "in a guild" and I don't know anyone who is.

Note my changes above. Please make sure that the relevant words appear in both your title and the main body of your post. Remember that "Google" is still a brand name so should be capitalised.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

I'm a leader in an MMORPG guild and I wish to refer to my "guildees" in the correct way. I have seen it spelt guildies and guildees. What do you think sounds better, or rather, which is correct?

Re: Is it Guildee or Guildie?

If I had to choose one of them, I'd go for "guildee". I've found a UK-based Meetup group that seems to be a "Gaming Guild" and the founder refers to his members as "Guildees".

Neither sounds good to me. Have you considered 'guilders', 'guild members' or simply 'players'?

NOTE TO THE CURIOUS: MMORPG means massively multiplayer online role playing game.

Re: Is it Guildee or Guildie?

I think this is a US thing. As a Brit, I've never hear of the word guildees.

And I'm pretty certain that guildies is either incorrect or just a very chummy way of referring to what I'd call my fellow guild members.

    Not a teacher

Is the -ee suffix in guildee the same as in referee, addressee, employee, trainee, etc.?

The -ie suffix makes guildie feel like a diminutive. Am I correct?

Now that it's been explained, that's how I understand it — and guildie is the only way I'd spell it.
    I am not a teacher.

Yes, or whatever you call a familiar nickname like bestie.
    I am not a teacher.

Do you mean that you've never heard guildee? Do you think it could be a misspelling of guildie, then?
