    terrible weather

    Hello,

Suppose that the weather is really bad. It is raining hard and the wind is blowing like crazy.

We have a proverb "The weather is so bad that one won't even drive out a dog with a limpy leg".

Do you also have a similar proverb?

It's not fit to turn a dog out.

(But it's not a proverb – and neither is yours.)

I would have guessed It's not fit to turn a dog out into, with its delightful double preposition, but I don't really know. We don't use the expression in American English.

It's terrible out there. It's not fit to turn a dog out.

    Re: terrible weather

You are right. It is not a proverb. It is a saying.

    Re: terrible weather

I wouldn't send a dog out in weather like that.
