Hi teachers.

Are the two sentences natural?

1) My coworker suddenly quit so I have to work overtime to pick up the slack.

2) Teaching others teaches yourself.

Hi teachers.

Are the two sentences natural?

1) My coworker suddenly quit, so I have to work overtime to pick up the slack.

2) Teaching others teaches you.

I'm not sure I get the second one. Could you give me an example?

What do you want an example of? The sentence makes sense in BrE. Don't you use "pick up the slack" the same way in AmE?

Yes, we use "pick up the slack" the same way in AmE. Tarheel was seeking an example for the second sentence.

"Teaching others teaches you" refers to a psychological phenomenon known as the protégé effect. Reference

That makes sense. You have to learn something to be able to teach it. It's the entire process, not just the teaching that stimulates learning.

Apologies. I misread it and thought it was the first sentence that was causing a problem.

We're all teachers, we're all learners, and class is always in session.
