phoned in that Dennis Quaid movie
Frustrated, Topher says to Rusty about a girl:
Topher: I love her, but she is driving me crazy! I can't sleep. I can't work. I quit the show. I totally phoned in that Dennis Quaid movie.
What does "phoned in something"?
Does it mean he lost the show because he didn't act properly?
