"Perfume usually has three notes...the top note,...the middle note,...and the base note, which carries the perfume and makes it linger."
What does it mean to "carry the perfume" ?
In perfumery, different "notes" refer to ease with which the fragrances
become volatile (vaporize) and detectable. The base note includes the vehicle (carrier) in the perfume and the most persistent (least volatile)fragrance.
