Agriculture is the art, science and business of cultivating crops and livestock for economic purposes.

Agriculture is the main stay of any economy and plays a critical role such that it is the most effective way to improve lives.

Hence, supporting and transforming a country's agriculture can create jobs, raise incomes, reduce malnutrition and lead to a nation's economic growth.

However, for these to be achievable, policies to unlock the huge potential of commodities grown in Africa would be made by developing agricultural value chains and agro allied industries.

To this end, expansion of production possibilities of small scale farmers, removal of binding constraints like limited access to technology, markets, infrastructure, finance, land security, etcetera is of necessity.

These not withstanding, high yield crops has to be developed, a boost in irrigation is required as well as increased use of fertilizers not leaving out guarantee in
improved market access, regulations and governance and of course; inevitable use of information technology.

Conclusively, needless to say that the gains of agriculture in an economy cannot be over emphasized, thus investing in and its transformation would non the less be a catalyst of change in any economy especially that of Africa.
