Hello to all,

I would be grateful if you would critique my accent, as I have been practising my American accent for quite a while and I feel I am stuck in a bit of a rut, and cannot seem to make any improvements anymore.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Please find a sample of my accent here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og8KlKefxcw

Many thanks,
Marshall

It would be more understandable if you could take the croak out of your voice. That may be from reading rather than speaking.

How old are you?
How long have you been learning?
How long have you been consciously working on improving your pronunciation?

It may just be that you've reached the limit, as it were, and that you won't improve further. If that's the case, you should be quite happy with the pronunciation that you have.

Yes, that happens with reading, not with speaking though. Not sure why :)

32.
15 years.
2 or 3 years.

Thanks for your feedback, although I somewhat refuse to believe there's a limit past which you cannot go. All the work I've done has been self-imparted, no outside help whatsoever, so who's to say this is where I draw the line and call it quits?!

Please don't get me wrong—I was not suggesting you call it quits. I was trying to say that your pronunciation is generally very good.
