Exclamation Untypical question here -- GB

Hi. I am wondering what the clothes-rules for interviews in Great Britain are. Should one (male) wear a suit and a tie? Or is it permissible nowadays to go there just in a jacket, without non-white shirt and a tie?

It is really important for me, so if you just know please share it with me!

    Best wishes,
    Nyggus

One of our British members will have excellent advice for you, I know, but I just wanted to add that a very good rule of thumb is to always dress a little better than expected for an interview. You can never go wrong with a classic suit/white shirt/tie combination. Good luck with your interview!

I would wear a suit and tie. I would also go for a white shirt, but I think other colours would be OK.

What kind of job are you going for?

PS As Ouisch says, all the best with the interview.

It is an academic position, and as far as I know academicians do not like suits. My main problem is related with my trip and carrying the stuff, and this is why I asked.

Thanks Ouisch and Tdol for whishes and for replies,
    Nyggus

I'd still go for the suit. There'll be plenty of time to dress down when you've got the job.
