Are my two sentences idiomatic? Will native speakers use them?
1) During the flood season, the river overruns its banks for several miles.
2) The invading army overran a few scattered guerrilla outposts.
I think they're natural but maybe the second one is more specific. One might read it in newspapers about war or something. May I have your opinion?
