a. There are quite a few people they'd rather inspect their factory than me.
b. There are a lot of people they'd rather inspect their factory than me.

Are the above sentences grammatically correct?
Are they natural?

Both seem grammatical to me, but a bit awkward. I find then a bit too complex.

Many thanks.

They are both run-on sentences.

Is this what you mean in the second part?
Given the choice between inspecting their factory and inspecting you, they prefer the former.

Changing they'd to who'd would make them grammatical, but still awkward and unnatural.

Thank you both so much.

How about

a1. There are quite a few people they'd rather inspected their factory than me.
b1. There are a lot of people they'd rather inspected their factory than me.

I am not sure I have not made things worse, but

c. They'd rather other people inspected their factory than me
seems fine to me.

So I thought maybe there is a way to get from (c) to (a) and (b)

Many thanks.

(c) is much better. To add the part about many people, you can say:

They'd rather other people, whom there were many to choose from, inspected their factory than me

Try:
There are quite a few people, other than me, who they'd rather inspected their factory.

Note (and consider omitting) the highlighted parenthetical text.
