    Which of the noun phrases below can be used to mean "the social factor which IS education":
    1-"the social factor of education"
    2-"the social factor education"
    (For instance: When we consider the mental development of a child we have to take into consideration the role of the social factor education/the social factor of education. ie. the social factor which is education.)

    I would say "the social factor of education". Meaning that education IS a social factor, and also implying that education is one of many social factors.
