People are impressed by what they see on the TV screen

    Hi!

I wonder whether these two sentences have the same meaning. Are they both correct and synonym?

"People are impressed by whatthey see on the TV screen, believing that having more will lead them to a more fulfilling life.
People believe that having more will lead them to a more fulfilling life, being impressed by what they see on the TV secreen. "

    We would normally say:

People are impressed by what they see on TV.

    More what? More things?

    - People are impressed by what [space] they see on TV, believing that having more will lead them to a more fulfilling life.

    - People believe that having more will lead them to a more fulfilling life, being impressed by what they see on TV.
Yes, they're correct and mean the same thing.

Impressed might not be exactly the word you want. Some other choices:

    - influenced
    - attracted
    - enticed
    - seduced
    - captivated

NOTE: It's better to use quotation marks only when quoting someone.
I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.

I pick influenced. (Is there a prize for choosing the right one? )

I just noticed I didn't answer the question. (There's a word for that. (No, not OCD, ADD.)

( I think I should get a prize for remembering ADD, which didn't come to me at first. (Where do you go to collect your rewards? )

Erdab, you might be seeing too much in those ads. (I just think they're trying to sell me stuff.)
