    What is the money called?

    Suppose someone was killed in a car accident. He didn't buy insurance. The responsible party will give his family some money. What's the money called?

    And the government also gives his family some money to help them. What's the money called?

    He didn't buy have insurance. Or "He wasn't insured".
    It sounds like "compensation" to me. Look the word up at OneLook and see if the definitions fit what you are looking for.
