This is my answer to the question: "Do you think music and dancing are forms of art?"

My answer is: "It's a great part of art." But is my answer correct if I am talking about two forms of art?

Are music and dancing one thing or two?

(There's a hint in that sentence.)

I would say they are art forms. Or can be. (It is somewhat subjective what is and isn't art.)

They're or They are.

I think two. But if I am talking about music only can I say "It's a great part of art"?

You can. (You can say anything you want to say.) But what's wrong with saying it's an art form?

Nothing wrong with that definitely but as a learner I wanted to know if "They are great parts of art" is also correct. If I am talking about two things. And if I am talking about one thing, if "It's a great part of art" is also correct? I mean natural and grammatically correct.

"They are great parts of art" and "It's a great part of art" are unnatural and have no meaning.

Forget them.

OK. Do native speakers prefer "art forms" and "an art form" instead of "a form of art" and "forms of art"?
For example, "It's a beautiful art form." Not "It's a beautiful form of art." Or "They are beautiful art forms." Instead of "They are beautiful forms of art."

If I wanted to speak in those terms about something I'd probably say it's an art, not an art form.

Do native speakers use "arts"?

"Dancing and singing are arts" Or "Drawings and paintings are arts."

What word we use depends on several things. Quality for one. If a painting is good enough that somebody would be willing to pay for it it is more likely to be considered a work of art.

Context is also important.

It's more of an art than a science.

:)

P.S. I flunked out of art class. (Not really. I dropped art class for geography.)
