Hello.

Is it okay to use "speak to" in formal essays? Are these sentences I have written correct and natural?

1. Music's global popularity speaks to its influence among the masses.
2. The high crime rate speaks to some of the underlying problems societies grapple with, namely poverty and poor education.
3. The employer's increasing tendency to use robots instead of people speaks to the fact that robots are more efficient.
4. The melting of polar ice caps speaks to the fact that we have been ignoring our planet's problems.
5. Children who are deprived of proper education are more likely to commit crimes. That speaks to the importance of education.
6. People spend the majority of their free time on social media platforms these days. That speaks to the power of such internet-based platforms.

I want to teach the expression, so I need to use it in sentences. If the above sentences don't work, please let me know how I can use it better and make the sentence work.

They're all fine. You're using it correctly.
