There aren't any. The expression test take doesn't mean anything. Do you mean take a test?
Test: Geography - Level 1
-> The test was taken by student 1, who scored 90%.
-> The test is being taken by student 2. The paper has not been submitted yet.
Assuming that the term "test" refers to a form with questions/answers, what do we call instances of that test being taken by groups of students?
Tests are usually taken by groups of students. In the US, we have three levels of testing:
- a quiz is quick, usually about five or ten minutes.
- a test is longer, but never longer than one class session.
- an exam takes at least as long as one class session and has a major impact on students' grades.
Is there one word that can be used to refer to such a "test instance"?
We just call a test a test:
- The class took a trigonometry test today.
- She flunked her spelling test.
- The test starts in five minutes.
The word "attempt" came to my mind, but it seems to unnecessarily imply lack of completion.
That's true.
Your question isn't clear to me. Can you tell us more about what you want to know?

I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.
