My mind went through and settled on

What verbs can I use instead of "go through" and "settled" in this sentence?

On the plane, I looked out the window. The sun was gleaming in the empty blue sky. My mind went through yesterday's events and finally settled on my wife. Was she mad at me?

    It's good.

    - went through
    - riffled
    - scrolled

    - settled
    - landed
    - stopped
    - came to rest
I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.

The sun gleamed in a cloudless sky.

I went over the events of yesterday in my mind and wondered if, and why, my wife was mad at me.
See above for some suggested changes.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
