Does "on the steam" sound natural, or should I say "Manty is prepared in special dishes and is steamed"?

"Manty is prepared in special dishes on the steam."

No. Also, I'd change the word order.

Manty is steamed in special dishes/pans.

(I don't know what these special dishes look like so I'm not sure what to call them. "Dishes" generally means plates and bowls.)

Right. We don't prepare food in dishes. We serve food in dishes.

We prepare food in pots, pans, mixing bowls, and other cookware.

For example, we cook soup in a pot and serve it in a soup bowl.

Rachel, do you have a picture of one of these "special dishes"?

According to the Wikipedia article on them, they're steamed in a "multi-level metal steamer" called by various names in different languages.

They're not common enough that most English speakers would recognize any of the various native language names for them, so I'd probably just refer to them as something like 'metal steamer pots'. A Google search of that term yields mostly images similar in nature.

You could just call them 'steamers', but that opens a wider array of possible images like steamer baskets (both the folding metal satellite style and bamboo Asian style).
