Are these okay?
1. She's got a temper like an Atlantic squall.
2. The first movement of the Concerto is much like an Atlantic squall. It's imperious, quick to sweep the audience, and then it subsides to leave the listener in awe and confusion.
3. Their love was like an Atlantic storm. It passed as quickly as it had come.

I'm not a teacher. I speak American English. I've tutored writing at the University of Southern Maine and have done a good deal of copy editing and writing, occasionally for publication.
#3 doesn't hit the spot for me.
