Her parents sat on the couch, watching the news.

    Is this correct and natural?

Her parents sat on the couch, watching the news. Margery walked towards the window. She could see the reflection of her life on the glass. A messy living room. Unfinished meals. And HER PARENTS. David and Rita could care less about her. They wanted a son. For a second, she could see herself opening the window and getting away.

"couldn't care less". I'm aware that AmE uses "could care less" but it doesn't make sense, it never has and it never will.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
