    Equable and Equatable

    Hello there,
    i have heard these two words in a lecture.
    EQUABLE and EQUATABLE
    what is the difference?

    I think, if the lecturer was not mistaken, what you heard was equitable - that should send you to the right page of the dictionary

    I have an equable temperament; I'm not easily flustered.
    After the disagreement, they couldn't arrive at an equitable settlement.


    When talking about equable people, you can also use the word equanimous - but that's a fairly rare word, and may get you a few odd stares.
