Hi.

1) We learned at school that it was wrong to tell someone a lie.
2) We learned it was wrong to tell someone a lie at school.

Which one is correct one? What are the differences between them?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

First, please look at my corrections and changes above. Your first punctuation mark should have been a full stop, not a comma. It's important to follow these rules of written English at all times:

- Start every sentence with a capital letter.
- End every sentence with one appropriate punctuation mark.
- Don't put a space before a full stop, comma, question mark or exclamation mark.
- Always put a space after a full stop, comma, question mark or exclamation mark.

Both sentences are grammatically correct but only the first makes sense in any logical way. It makes it clear that you were taught that rule at school. The second means that you were told that you must not lie to someone while you and that person are at school.
