    ...eyes bathed in...

Hi there. Would you please proofread the following text? Any help would be appreciated.

    ************************************************** ************************************************** *

It wasn’t long before Gan and his wife, Jingying, began recognising the trail they had so long ago traversed in the opposite direction on their way to their new home, the Jade Valley. Of course, there were differences, nature had crowded some parts and deserted others, but in general, nothing much had changed, except maybe the effect nature had also had on his youth, less of which had remained.

Bailian walked with Gan and Jingying most of the time; she seemed to love listening to the stories he told of his youth. Gan became quite nostalgic, and his wife enjoyed the stories too, adding some of her own from time to time. Bailian listened to every word while her eyes bathed in all the different things around them, darting glances hither and yon.

It was not too long before they noticed that the wildlife had become more prolific as their distance from the valley had increased. Bailian, who watched everything, suggested that when they returned that they should uproot some seedlings and larger and replant them to replace some of the trees lost due to the meteor strike; rather than wait for nature to do all the work. Jingying said it was a great idea and offered to help her to organise it.
Three passions have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind.

Of course, there were differences, nature had crowded some parts and deserted (spared) others, but in general, nothing much had changed, except maybe the effect nature had also had on his youth, less (not much) of which had remained.
