Over the past months, I haven't slept well. I don't know why I has become sensitive to sounds and flash lights from the outside. I'm easily waked up by those distractions. I has also been afraid of sleeping in the darkness. I don't know if it's because I've watched too many horror movies. When I sleep in the darkness, I feel something around me so I sleep with the light on these days. I don't know when I can revert to normal sleeping.

"In the dark" is a set phrase. But "in the darkness" is not wrong though.
