I was talking online to a friend (who is a mechanic) about my car and later he emailed me saying:
'On a technical one your motor is (blah blah,a lot of description and details) , should I get out more?'
What does 'on a technical note' mean here?
and what does he mean by 'should I get out more?'
Thanks a lot
1. "On a technical note" means "With reference only to the technical aspects".
2. The phrase "You should get out more!" means "Your obsession with detail and small matters is unhealthy. If you had an exciting life, going to parties, clubs, etc., you would not have the time or inclination to worry about trivial details!"
By phrasing it as a question, he is in effect humorously saying "Is my obsession with detail, etc. unhealthy? Do I need a more exciting life?"
All the best,
Sorry, Mike, you weren't there a moment ago!
(Hope I didn't scrape your fender.)
