    trivialized?

    What does "trivialized" mean in:

"...tabloid newspapers, where women are discussed in terms of their marital status, appearance, and age; successful women are trivialized, while those who take positive action are condemned."

    Re: trivialized?

It means that the way in which the person is presented emphasises unimportant facts (age, marital status, children or not) at the expense of her achievements, which will be referred to as a minor matter.
