How do you pronounce "Boeing"? Is it as in "boring"?

Careful Daisy, that's a Scot you're dealing with . In RP 'boring' isn't pronounced like that: that's why advice on pronunciation can be misleading when it's given in terms of other words. We don't know how either you or curmudgeon pronounces 'boring' (though I have a fairly good idea in his case); and we can't predict how other users of this forum pronounce it either. (So even if we guess right about your pronunciation, we may mislead other people.)

    Boeing /ˈbɘʊıɳ/

'Boring' uses the /ɔ:/ vowel sound.

    b

    Re: pronunciation

Here in the USofA, where Boeing was founded, we pronounce the first syllable to rhyme with "bow," as in the long stick used to play a violin, or like a decorative ribbon attached to a gift package.

    Try this Daisy:

click on speech tools on your pc (usually at the bottom of the screen)
click options click 'advanced speech' click text to speech tab then type in boring boeing, adjust speed to midway between slow and normal then click preview voice.

Yes, and it is not the same vowel sound that we use in "boring".
