    hello.
    What is difference between these sentences:
    I talked to jim 3 times.
    I was talking to jim 3 times.

    Both mean pretty much the same, except regarding their us. When you use the first sentence it just ends there, whereas with the second it seems it's an introduction to someting...

    Might be better to say:

    I spoke to Jim on three occassions.

    I have spoken to Jim three times.

    It would be unusual to use the progressive/continuous form (was talking) for three separate events.
