    Please tell why this is wrong

    I know this is wrong but why.

    I work late and I arrive home hungrily

    Please can you help me.

    Hungrily is an adverb. Adverbs modify verbs. They tell how, when, and where an action takes place. In other words, they describe the manner, place, or time something is done.

    Here's a few short examples:

    I ate hungrily.
    I'm going there.
    I arrived late.
    I am free tomorrow.
    I drove quickly

    I think what you want us to know by your sentence is that because you work late, when you get home, you're hungry. Therefore, hungrily is modifying the pronoun I.

    Yes; thus:

    1. I arrived home hungrily.
    2. I arrived home hungry.

    In #1, "hungrily" tells us more about the action of arriving.

    In #2, "hungry" tells us more about the speaker.

    You might find #1 in e.g. a literary context. But for ordinary usage, you would use #2.
