things to consider before getting a pet

If you see any problems, please corret them for me. THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!

    1. Think about if you can be a responsible pet owner.

    2. consider if the pet you choose will suit your living space. if you raise a big dog in a small aparment, the space will be too small for the dog to move around. also, there will be a lot of noise.

    3. consider if anyone in your hosehold who doesn't want a pet becuase of allergy or noise.

4.think about if the pet you will adopt cause health or safety problems. Dogs might carry some diseas to children. also hair or parasites can be the cause of allery.

    6. you will need money for pet's food, or veterinary care, such as vaccination and on on.

Consider whether a member of the household might be intolerant of the pet. Or possibly allergic.

Consider the possibility of health or safety problems.

Are there any benefits to owning a pet?

And for millions of others too. (I tossed that question in there because the poster had mentioned only negative things about pet ownership.)

can't I say if instead of whether? You have changed all if to whether, for example.

consider if you are.....---> consider whether you are ...? any differnce between if and whether????

I think I left one of the ifs alone, but I did change two of them to whether. In any case, they are not used exactly the same way.

    if

    whether
    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/whether

(I plan to return to this subject.)

Re: things to consider before getting a pet

It is important to know when to use if and when to use whether. That is not something that is easy to explain, but I will try. (Perhaps I will get some help.)

    Re:
Think about if you can be a responsible pet owner.
The word if does not work there. Instead, say "Think about whether you can be a responsible pet owner. Or, say "Think about whether you can handle the responsibility of owning a pet. Or: "Think about whether you are up to owning a pet." Or you could say: "Before you get a pet decide if it is more responsibility than you can handle.

    Re:

I think whether is also better there. Instead, I would say: "Consider whether the pet you choose will suit your living space." Or: "Consider whether you have enough room."

    Consult the definitions at Dictionary.com.
