    last –latest

    Hi, dear teachers,
I thought I knew the usage well, but in this case both sound good to me and I’m confused:
I’ve seen all the plays at the theatre except for the …
    a) last
    b) latest
Which is better? I’d rather take a).
    Thanks in advance.

I think a) is better. Because lastest when you express like ' the tardiest"

The problem is that "last" has no meaning in this context. If you are referring to the last play that opened, "latest" is the word you want.
