    availment

    Hi,

could you please tell me what "availment" means in the following sentence:

If a claim is made against company XY for infringement of industrial property rights, the supplier is obliged to exempt company XY from these claims on receipt of first written demand. This obligation of suppliers to exempt company XY relates to all expenses accrued by company XY from, or in connection with, any necessary availment by a third party.

    Thank you very much.

For your information, the word availment was marked "little used" in the 1828 edition of Webster's unabridged dictionary. By the 1913 edition, it was marked "obsolete". It is not in the 2000 edition at all.
