    Question definition

    I would like to know what the speaker means when using the words alas
    and can the word disarmed used when the speaker doesn´t want to get into an arguing ?

    Alas is an exclamation of lament - "Alas, I have lost my way!"

    Disarmed means remove weapons from someone [The police disarmed the robber by taking away his gun] or make someone less hostile: Her charm disarmed the prosecution lawyer completely.
