    help!

"I wanted to stop but on thinking that i've been doing it for an hour, i didn't stop."

is it ok to replace that with just thinking...i mean will it make a difference or will it be wrong without the preposition on? thanks!

    Re: help!

    Say:
I wanted to stop, but thinking that I had been doing it for an hour, I didn't stop.

I actually want to know if on is possible there. Let's say: "But thinking that Mom would be home by two I didn't cook lunch."
I don't know why you would use on in that sentence, but I will take another look at it.

    Re: help!

    Try:
I was thinking that Mom would be home by two, so I didn't cook lunch.

    Re: help!

If you have to use a preposition, try something like this:

I wanted to stop, but upon further consideration, I decided not to.
I wanted to stop, but after thinking about it, I decided not to.
I wanted to stop, but on a whim, I decided not to.
