The AmE equivalent of 'building site'

    Hi!

I was wondering which word is used in AmE instead of 'building site' (
an area that you are not allowed to enter (usually surrounded by barriers), for examlpe, because of building of a house, a skyscraper etc., whose name suggests that work is in progress on it).
